Whanganui River Adventures, owned and operated by Ken and Josephine Haworth, offers visitors an authentic experience on the Whanganui River that combines natural beauty, Māori culture, and outdoor adventure.
Based in Pipiriki, the family-run business provides activities such as canoeing, kayaking, jet boating and multi-day river journeys through remote native forest landscapes. The Whanganui River is both a stunning wilderness destination and a place of deep cultural and spiritual significance for local Māori communities.
Ken and Josephine, who were raised in the river valley and descend from local iwi and hapū, share their extensive knowledge of the river’s history, traditions, and environment with guests. Josephine and Ken continue a family legacy of commercial jet boating, while Ken brings experience in tourism and conservation. Together, they are known for personalised adventures, warm hospitality, and a strong commitment to preserving and sharing the unique heritage of the Whanganui River region.
