Glacier Express

Andermatt, Switzerland

The Glacier Express is the classic among the Swiss train journeys.

From the foot of the Matterhorn, the eight-hour panoramic journey takes the travelers over 291 bridges and through 91 tunnels to the Engadine lake landscape near St. Moritz.

On the "slowest express train in the world", thanks to large panoramic windows, all passengers have an unobstructed view of idyllic mountain meadows, snow-covered peaks, rugged gorges with green glistening glacier lakes, the Rhine Gorge and the imposing Landwasser Viaduct. The highest point is reached on the Oberalp Pass at 2033 meters above sea level.

In addition to first and second class, guests can also travel in the luxurious Excellence Class since 2019, where a concierge takes care of the guests' personal well-being and guests enjoy an exquisite 6-course menu with wine accompaniment. The on-board kitchen on the Glacier Express serves guests freshly prepared regional specialties directly to their seats - in all three classes.
